Coat Color Simulator

Select the sire and dam genotypes to simulate possible kitten coat colors and probabilities by sex. 9 loci covered: eumelanin, dilution, orange (X-linked), agouti, silver, colorpoint, white spotting, dominant white, and coat length.

Color

Orange / Red (O) — X-linkedCarried on the X chromosome. Sire and dam have different combinations.

Eumelanin (B)Dark pigment color. B (black) > b (chocolate) > b¹ (cinnamon).

Dilution (D)Dilutes pigment: black→blue, chocolate→lilac, cinnamon→fawn, red→cream.

Pattern & Coat

Agouti (A)Determines whether the tabby pattern is visible. A (agouti) is dominant over a (non-agouti).

Inhibitor / Silver (I)Inhibits pigment at the base of the hair shaft. Tabby + I = Silver tabby. Solid + I = Smoke.

Coat length (L)L (short) is dominant over l (long). ll = Maine Coon, Persian, Ragdoll, Norwegian…
